Uyghurs in China

Millions of Muslims are being violated and abused for labor to culturally assimilate in "re-education" camps in China.

About

  • The Chinese government is abusing Uyghur Muslims in detention "re-education" camps in Xinjiang, China.

  • This is an aggressive form of China's anti-religion policies and forced cultural assimilation

  • The detainees are taught mandarin, fed Chinese communist propaganda, fed pork and non-halal foods, forced into commercial labor, and sexually/physically/emotionally abused.

  • Many articles by popular news sources have been made, but little action has been done.

  • Trump's administration passed the Uyghur human rights policy of 2020, but has seen no effective change.

  • The most we can do is spread awareness, donate, sign petitions, contact our representatives, and educate ourselves.

Dear [REP'S NAME]:

I am writing to voice my concerns about reports of human rights violations on Uyghurs, Kazakhs and other predominantly Muslim people, both in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (Xinjiang) and outside China. We must take urgent and effective measures to protect them from being arbitrarily detained in “transformation-through-education" facilities in the name of “de-extremification” and stop all kinds of harassment and intimidation against Uyghur communities and members of other ethnic groups living abroad.

Uyghurs living overseas are suffering from harassment and intimidation by the Chinese authorities. Individuals recount intrusive surveillance, intimidating phone calls, negative consequences of speaking out and planting seeds of suspicion among the communities outside China. Their family members in China are targeted by the Chinese authorities to suppress their activism abroad. They also fear that other governments will be pressured by China to repatriate Uyghurs who have left China.

Yours sincerely,
[your name]
